Deadlock Times is an independent Deadlock news, patch-comparison, wiki, and editorial site. We collect the information needed to run the site, let readers sign in and vote, protect accounts, and remember privacy choices. We do not currently run advertising or third-party page analytics. If we add analytics or Google advertising later, those non-essential tools must stay off unless you opt in through our cookie controls.
Information we collect
Account data: Discord sign-in details such as your Discord ID, display name, avatar, and email address when provided by Discord.
Steam identity: if you choose to link Steam, we store the Steam ID used to connect your Deadlock identity.
Votes and ratings: rating values, the page or patch section you rated, timestamps, your account ID when signed in, and an anonymous voting cookie or technical hash where anonymous voting is enabled.
Voting context: when Steam is linked, we may fetch Deadlock profile summary data such as rank band, available game count, first game date, and recent activity to understand rating quality and prevent abuse.
Technical data: security logs, request metadata, IP address, user agent, and error data that may be processed by our hosting, database, CDN, or security providers.
Cookie choices: your consent categories and update time, stored in a first-party preference cookie.
How we use information
Authenticate users and maintain sessions.
Save votes, ratings, account settings, and editor/admin actions.
Publish aggregate rating data and improve patch pages, tables, and search.
Protect the site from spam, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
Respond to support, moderation, legal, and security requests.
Load analytics or advertising only if the relevant consent category has been accepted.
Cookies and local storage
Necessary cookies support sign-in, CSRF protection, Steam-link state, signed-in or anonymous vote submission, anti-abuse checks, and this privacy choice. Optional functional, analytics, and advertising storage can be controlled below or from our Cookie Policy.
Sharing and processors
We share data only as needed to operate Deadlock Times: authentication providers such as Discord, Steam OpenID when you link Steam, infrastructure providers for hosting/database/CDN/object storage, and security or error-monitoring services if enabled. Future Google analytics or advertising products will be treated as optional third-party services and loaded only according to your consent choices.
Retention
Account records, votes, ratings, and audit logs are kept while needed to operate the site, preserve editorial integrity, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Cookie consent records expire after a limited period and can be replaced by saving new choices. We may keep aggregated or de-identified statistics after account data is deleted.
Your choices and rights
You can decline non-essential cookies, change cookie choices, avoid linking Steam, or stop using account features that require sign-in. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing of personal data. Contact us if you want to make a privacy request.
Children
Deadlock Times is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age required by local law to use online account services without parental consent.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes, including when analytics, advertising, comments, or additional account features are added. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date on this page and, where required, asking for new consent.
